Seeing Still Life
Observation to abstraction

Join me for a creative two-day weekend course at the Porthmeor Print Workshop in St Ives. Exploring the possibilities of still life through looking closely, drawing using different experimental techniques. Working from a dynamic still life collection, the emphasis will start with careful observation, responding to shape, form, line and composition. Concentrating on the relationships between the objects. Finding our favourite forms.
Day One
Plenty of drawing exercises to get us started, taking these into simple monoprints, exploring texture, mark making and the unexpected qualities of monoprint!
Day Two
Building on the discoveries from day one, through collage and acrylics, using painted papers, pattern and breaking down and abstracting the forms, we will play with colour and push our ideas towards a mini series of vibrant mixed media still lives.
A weekend of immersive exploration, experimentation, and fresh ways of seeing the everyday.
Timings - 9.30am to 4pm
(Lunch break of one hour)
